On September 11, 2001 Bishop Johnson was in New York. Arriving in the pre-dawn hours, he checked into the New Yorker Hotel. Later that morning he viewed the events taking place a mile away, from his hotel. He found himself that day and evening at " Ground Zero " working with Police, Fire Fighters and other workers. Prayer, last rites and encouraging others that worked in the Morgue, continued for the first two weeks of the tragedy.

2004 UPDATE: Bishop Dan Johnson was given an NYPD & NYFD Chaplain's badge along with patches for both fire & police departments during his recent 9/11 Memorial visit.

On the anniversary, Bishop Johnson participated in the 9-11 Remembrance Services, in New York City. It was a privilege being at the World Trade Center Memorial, with the families, rescue workers, and President George W. Bush.

At this time he met with the President George W. Bush, First Lady Laura Bush, Colin Powell, and Condoleezza Rice, they all wanted prayer. After praying with President Bush he spent nearly three hours with he, the First Lady and staff.
