In 1992 under the previous Bush Administration, Bishop Johnson worked as a part of the Peace Keeping Force in Los Angeles. During the L.A. Riots, he set up "safe zones" preaching in the most violent areas. President Bush met with Bishop Johnson and he was honored as "One of the Fifty Leading Pastors" in the U.S.
On April 15, 2001, Bishop Johnson was presented with The Washington Times Foundation’s "National Service Award" for his selfless efforts in promoting racial harmony, bringing unity to our nations families and communities.
May 2001, Bishop Johnson and his wife Rebecca received the "Parents of the Year", award for the state of Kentucky. In recognition of the President Bush’s "Parents Day Proclamation". He was asked to open in prayer at this great event in Washington, just before the keynote speaker Senator Robert Dole.
